The Series 1 Lotus Elise was launched in 1996, weighing in at only 725 kg and capable of the 0-60 miles per hour sprint in just 5.8 seconds. The first Elise model is highly sought-after and still fetch good money on the used car market. Many special editions were manufactured including the Sport 135, Sport 160, Sport 190, 111S and 340R. A hardtop Exige version was also launched.
The Series 2 model arrived in 2000 and is still sold today. Genetically similar to the Vauxhall VX220, the standard car blitzes the 0-60 sprint in 5.9 seconds and is also available as several special edition versions including the 111S, 111R, the SC and many more. A new Exige was also launched in 2004.
